What are the heat resistance properties of different silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives?

silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives refer to pressure-sensitive adhesives mainly composed of silicone polymers, or acrylic and silicone-modified rubber-type pressure-sensitive adhesives modified by silicone polymers. It is divided into two types: one is solvent-based and the other is temperature-curing. Solvent-based silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives are usually heated or left to dry naturally-after a period of time, the solvent in them can be used and can be used. Sensitive adhesive, but this type of pressure sensitive adhesive can be dissolved by solvents.

Temperature-curing silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives usually need to be heated to more than one Baidu to be cured to form pressure-sensitive adhesive properties. If you need to use an isolation film, you can use ordinary pressure-sensitive adhesive isolation film. Different silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives have different heat resistance properties, and the high temperature resistance can reach more than 300 degrees Celsius. Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives usually contain flammable and easily-toxic solvents, such as toluene, xylene, ethyl acetate, solvent gasoline, and petroleum ether. They need to be managed as dangerous goods during storage and transportation and use.

Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives are mainly of the following types, including solvent-based, high-solid-type and solvent-free, hot-melt, and emulsion-type silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives.

1.Solvent-based silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive

Solvent-based silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives have been developed the most comprehensively, can meet many practical needs, and have excellent performance. The solvents used are toluene, xylene and petroleum ether. Although the performance of the solvent-based silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive is excellent, due to its low solid content, it requires the use of a large number of solvents, consumes a lot of raw materials and energy, and causes environmental pollution, which limits its further development.

2.High solid content and solvent-free silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive

In order to meet environmental protection requirements and reduce the use and emission of volatile organic compounds (WOC) that pollute the air, high solid content and solvent-free silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives have been gradually developed. The significant advantages of the high solids system are that it requires little or no solvent dilution, has a wide range of properties, is easy to deploy, and requires simple production equipment, and can also be well coated on traditional low solids adhesive coating machines. And curing, easy handling and storage.

3.Hot-melt silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive

The advantages of hot-melt silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives are: no organic solvents, safety and environmental protection, convenient construction, and can be coated with traditional equipment, low cost, no pollution.

4.Emulsion silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive

Simple emulsion type silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives are rarely reported. This is because organic surfactants need to be added when preparing silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive emulsions, which will adversely affect many properties of pressure-sensitive adhesives.
