silicone is a kind of polysiloxane with high bond energy and not easy to break. There are many types of silicone products. Because of its unique function and wide range of uses, it is an indispensable chemical material in the national economic life.
Silicone products can be low-molecular-weight and flowable liquid substances (monomers, oils, emulsions), high-molecular-weight elastomers (rubbers), or branched-chain resins, as well as oils, rubbers, and resins. Grade products or modifiers. Therefore, silicone products are a combination of a large number of silicone oils, silicone rubbers, silicone resins and silanes with various groups.
Silicone products have good high temperature and low temperature resistance, and can usually work for a long time at 180°C. Organosilicon materials have good low temperature resistance and can work at -55°C.
Organic silicon materials have good electrical insulation properties, and their dielectric properties will not change drastically with changes in temperature; its dielectric constant does not increase with the increase of frequency. It is resistant to arc, corona and leakage; it has the characteristics of resistance to ozone, radiation, weather and flame, so it is widely used.
Several main materials and products in the silicone industry are introduced as follows:
1. Silane coupling agent
Silane coupling agent is a kind of low-molecular compound. One end of silicon atom is connected with hydrolyzable chlorine or various alkoxy groups, which can be connected with inorganic substances after hydrolysis; the other end has various functional groups that can interact with organic substances. Such as amino, vinyl, mercapto, etc., so silane coupling agents can bridge organic and inorganic substances. There are nearly one hundred kinds of silane coupling agents in common use.
2. Silicone oil
Silicone oil is a low-molecular-weight polysiloxane containing single or different organic groups, which can be made into a variety of different viscosities. Silicone oil has low surface tension and large contact angle with water, making it a high-quality water-repellent material. The application of silicone oil or its modified preparations in cosmetics has grown rapidly in recent years. Silicone oil is not oily or greasy when applied to the skin, feels smooth and comfortable, and can be made into various skin care creams.
3. Silicone rubber
According to the vulcanization mechanism, silicone rubber can be divided into high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (HTV); room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (RTV) and addition molded liquid silicone rubber (LSR). It has heat resistance, cold resistance, ozone resistance, ultraviolet resistance, atomic oxygen resistance, and The characteristics of cosmic rays and comprehensive performance such as waterproof and shockproof.
Silicone rubber has the characteristics of physiological inertia, non-coagulation, and easy disinfection. It can be used to make silicone rubber parts that can be implanted into the human body and various silicone rubber catheters, intubation tubes, hydrocephalus drainage tubes, and peritoneal dialysis tubes that can be used for a long time. And artificial heart-lung machine blood transfusion pump tube, etc.
In addition, silicone rubber is breathable and has different permeability to different gases. The oxygen transmission rate is the highest among synthetic polymers. It can be used as oxygen-rich membrane and gas separation membrane.
4. Silicone resin
The insulating material made of silicone resin belongs to the H-class due to its good heat resistance and insulation performance. The motor made of it is small in size, light in weight, and highly reliable, and will not burn out under short-term overheating and overloading.
Silicone resin can be used to formulate high-temperature resistant coatings of 500℃; silicone-modified acrylic resin coatings have good weather resistance, are water-repellent and anti-fouling, and are high-quality exterior wall coatings.
