The status quo and development direction of the stamping industry

More than 2,000 years ago, our country had stamping dies used to make bronzes, which proved that ancient China’s achievements in stamping and forming and stamping dies are leading the world.

In 1953, Changchun No. 1 Automobile Manufacturing Plant established a die workshop for the first time in China. The plant began manufacturing automotive panel molds in 1958. my country began to produce fine blanking dies in the 1960s. After a long road of development, my country has now formed a production capacity of more than 30 billion yuan (excluding statistics from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) of various metal stamping dies.

One thing to be clear is that drawings are very important. The drawing is equivalent to the heart of the entire process. If the drawing does not indicate the corresponding geometric tolerances, the product produced may not be able to achieve the purpose of use. At the same time, the drawings also set a direction for the precision metal processing manufacturers. According to the drawings, the corresponding process can be formulated, the processing time can be reasonably arranged, and the production efficiency can be accelerated.

Secondly, the materials used in processing are also crucial. Without good materials, even the best equipment cannot reach a perfect standard, and the finished product may not look beautiful enough. At present, many precision metal processing parts are more or less used in automobile, aerospace, and medical enterprises. The workpieces required are not only beautiful in appearance, but also high in accuracy, and better material characteristics are also required.

Then there are cost budgets and processing cycle budgets. In most cases, the prices of workpieces produced and processed in the precision metal processing industry are decreasing, and the costs of materials and labor are rising, so we need to budget in advance to control the corresponding adjustable costs. And arrange orders reasonably during the production period to avoid uncontrollable factors caused by processing workpieces in a hurry.

The last thing to talk about is the surface treatment, packaging and transportation of precision metal processing. Hardware parts need to be surface treated in time after processing to prevent oxidation and corrosion of the workpiece. When packaging and transporting, it is necessary to adopt corresponding protective measures to prevent the workpiece from being deformed and bumped during transportation, and to ensure that the workpiece is handed over to the customer in a perfect state.

Stamping die level status

In recent years, the level of stamped aluminum parts in my country has been greatly improved. Large-scale stamping dies have been able to produce a single set of dies with a weight of more than 50 tons. Cover parts for mid-range cars can also be produced in molds. The multi-station progressive die with an accuracy of 1~2μm and a life span of about 200 million times has been produced by many domestic companies. The fine blanking dies with surface roughness of Ra≤1.5μm, large-size (φ≥300mm) fine blanking dies and medium-thick plate fine blanking dies have also reached a fairly high level in China.
