What is the role of dimethylsilicone oil in coatings and plastics

With the unique surface properties of dimethylsilicone oil and the addition of a very small amount into the paint and ink, the uneven color can be prevented, the stretching property can be improved, and the film surface can be even, bright and smooth. High viscosity methyl silicone oil can also be used as defoamer of coatings. However, if the use method and dosage are not appropriate, the opposite effect will be produced. The compatibility of silicone oil coating and other coatings is not good, so it is not suitable to mix with each other. The addition of silicone oil is generally controlled between 0.01% and 0.5%.

The addition of methyl silicone oil into thermoplastic resin can give new properties to plastics. To improve the demoulding ability of plastics (internal release agent) and the dispersion of inorganic fillers in the resin, improve the fluidity of the resin and the surface lubricity and wear resistance of the products. POM, PA, hips, ABS and other resins added with methyl silicone oil have been widely used to make wear-resistant and lubricating Plastic parts, such as gears of OA equipment.

Dimethylsilicone oil can be used as an additive for many other materials. For example, it can be used as the brightener of paint. Adding a small amount of silicone oil into the paint can prevent the paint from floating and wrinkle, and improve the brightness of the paint film. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the ink can improve the printing quality. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the polishing oil (such as automobile polish oil) can increase the brightness, protect the paint film and have excellent waterproof effect
